The Kimberley trip
Enjoy the expert tuition of Judith White in stunning field locations and in the "bush studio" at Digger's Rest Station. Art sessions are interspersed with activities, encounters and a 3 night camp. Exhibit your work in the informal exhibition and celebrate your achievements. Workshops with Judith are a rare opportunity to learn painting and drawing techniques from one of Australia's leading contemporary artists. Art sessions usually begin with outdoor drawing sessions using a variety of materials while you absorb context, relevance and a local influence, moving into the bush studio (on the verandahs) to develop your works.
Learn how to:
- gather reference material in the field
- develop larger works from your reference material
- develop composition; what to leave in and leave out
- bring awareness to your personal response to the landscape and find a means to express it
About Judith White
Judith has worked professionally as an artist for over 40 years, she has countless major art awards and commissioned works hang on the walls of Olympic Co-ordination authority, Attorney General Department of NSW, Hilton Hotel and many other prestigious addresses. Her professional success is only part the reason she is in such demand as a teacher of art: Judith works closely with students, getting the most out of them and helping them find their own viewpoint and direction while generously sharing the techniques she has developed over many years. Guests say the reason they come back year after year for Judith's workshops is because they learn so much and grow exponentially as artists. To learn more about Judith, visit her website

The Kimberley workshop is best suited to -
This workshop is best suited to artists with intermediate to advanced painting skill or understanding. However beginners willing to jump in and give everything a go will also get a lot out of it and have fun on the way.
Fitness
The Kimberley environment is challenging for many reasons, not least the heat. You'll need to be a devoted hat wearer and water drinker and be stable on your feet over rugged, loose terrain. It's an energetic itinerary! (P.S. we're not going to let you do a walk if we think you're at risk of tumbling over the edge!)
Escape winter
July is peak dry season in the East Kimberley with warm daily temperatures that could reach 36 degrees but usually sit between 28 and 33. Overnight temps average 16 but could dip as low as 10. It is the dry season so rain is possible, but very uncommon.
