2021 Kimberley Writer's Retreat

What will you learn?
The great thing about being away from the city bustle for an extended period in a stunning landscape like the Kimberley is that the immersion in a spacious, peaceful, positive environment allows your writing to flow more freely.
The activities Nandi leads involve deep listening, sensory walking and wild writing and are designed to help you go deep blending thought, memory, feeling and sensation. Learn by doing and produce many pieces of writing with ample opportunity to edit, read and perform your work.
Enjoy tuition over 5 days in numerous locations plus many additional activities over 7 days. Develop and enrich your writing practice as you actively engage with the Kimberley landscape, the lifestyle and with the characters you’ll meet.
What other activities are included?
Barramundi fishing, champagne sunsets, campfire singalong, crocodile spotting, birdwatching, Ramsar wetlands, aboriginal rock art.
ABOUT the TUTOR - Dr Nandi Chinna.
Nandi Chinna is a research consultant, award-winning poet, essayist and inspiring teacher who has taught creative writing to people of all ages for over 20 years. Enjoy the warmth
Typical weather in May in the East Kimberley features an average daytime maximums of 33 degrees and average overnight minimums of 20.6 degrees. It is the end of the wet season so rain is unusual. Expect warm dry weather.
There are two main types of accommodation.
Bush Hut - Bush Huts each have one double bed, verandah, mosquito net, ensuite, fan, powerpoint, light, towels and linen. There are four Bush Huts suiting single or couples accommodation. Allocated on a first come, first served basis. Advantages of the bush hut - peaceful, beautiful views, adventure, wildlife to wake up to. Stay in a bush hut for an authentic Kimberley experience.
We have one SHARED bush hut with two single beds. This hut is best suited to friends or a couple.
Bunkhouse room - The two bunkhouse rooms are usually shared by two guests each. Each bunkhouse room has a double bed plus three single beds, air conditioning, overhead fans, towels, linen. The bunkhouse has a shared bathroom. Advantages of the bunkhouse - spacious, air conditioned, large verandahs, close to the homestead.
