Painting and Drawing Workshop
With Judith White
The Kimberley: June 28 - July 6, 2021
Yet another great week at Digger’s Rest. Thank you for everything that you all have done to give us this great experience.
- Cathryn Dixon, Kimberley Art Workshop with Judith White

Workshops with Judith White are a rare opportunity to learn painting and drawing techniques from one of Australia's leading contemporary artists. The workshops usually begin with outdoor drawing sessions using a variety of materials while you absorb context, relevance and a local influence, moving into the bush studio to develop larger painted works.
Learn how to:
- gather reference material in the field
- develop larger works from your reference material
- develop composition; what to leave in and leave out
- bring awareness to your personal response to the landscape and find a means to express it
About Judith White
Judith White has worked professionally as an artist for over 35 years, she has countless major art awards under her belt, and her commissioned works hang on the walls of Olympic Co-ordination authority, Attorney General Department of NSW and the Hilton Hotel and many other prestigious addresses. But her professional success is only part the reason she is in such demand as a teacher of art. Judith works with students, getting the most out of them and helping them find their own view and direction while sharing the techniques she has developed over many years that makes her own art so intriguing. Guests tell us the reason they come back year after year for Judith's workshops is because they learn so much and grow exponentially as artists. To learn more about Judith, visit her website.

Where will you be based?
You will be based at Digger's Rest Station in the east Kimberley, about 2 hours from Kununurra. You'll travel in comfort, venturing "off the beaten track" into wilderness areas not open to the public. You'll explore deep into the landscape, have unique experiences and meet colourful characters. You'll have your own comfortable Bush Hut or shared Bunkhouse room to retreat to each evening and enjoy a two night camp in an Aboriginal Community..

This workshop is best suited to -
Intermediate and advanced artists. You'll finish the trip having created a solid collection of new pieces to go on with, and perhaps some near completion.
In the Kimberley, the environment may challenge your physical comfort as you pursue your art breakthroughs so you will need to be in good fitness.
Escape winter -
The East Kimberley features very warm daily temperatures in July that could range from 24 to 36 degrees. Overnight temps average 16 but could range anywhere from 6 to 25. It is the dry season so rain is possible but unlikely.
