Have you dreamed of riding under wide Kimberley skies? Over remote, wild and ancient Kimberley plains, along dusty stock routes and riverbanks beneath the arching branches of a thousand year old boab tree? And how about pulling up beside cool waterholes for lunch and a swim?
Imagine a week of riding steady and willing horses - add a dash of wine, fun and plenty of adventure.
Come with us, bring mates or come on your own. Set your own pace from a fun, fully optional itinerary.
A Kimberley adventure for women who love to ride -
It’s not a workshop
It's about letting your hair down and having fun.
It’s not a tour
We don't spend hours each day in a vehicle. You won't have to set up a tent.
You’ll have your own comfy Bush Hut or Bunkhouse room each night and you'll wake to stunning views of the Cockburn Ranges.
Be as active or relaxed as you like and join the day’s activities or lie in a hammock with a book! Come with friends or travel solo.
It’s not extreme
You’ll try things you never thought you would and you'll feel capable, valued and free.
We are based at Digger’s Rest Station outside Wyndham, WA. We make short trips each day into this spiritual and timeless landscape in comfort and safety, while you join in on some (or all) of the activities.
The station is a working cattle property, not a resort, so living the way they do and getting to know everyone there is part of the fun.
To enjoy this trip you need to be bush-walk fit and if you plan to ride, you need to be able to mount and ride a horse!
You'll also be climbing in and out of four-wheel drive vehicles, walking over rocks and sometimes slippery ground.
Do you need to be able to ride a horse?
You do not have to be a horse rider to have a great time on this trip. If you are a non-rider, you are welcome to join the support crew (in a vehicle) when horse rides go out - which is just as much fun! You receive a 5% discount as a non-rider.
If you plan to ride.
If you want to partake of the horse rides in the itinerary, you do need to be able to ride as there are no riding lessons on this trip.
If you are a rider who plans to trot and canter, you will need to demonstrate that you are in control at those gaits. If it has been a while, we recommend that you have some refresher lessons before you come - it will make your experience better!
The horses are excellent, well cared for and also used for mustering. All rides will be led by Digger's Rest Station staff whose requests are to be followed at all times.
We require you to wear a HELMET. If you don't want to bring one, we have a good selection at the station.
A weight limit of 90kgs applies to riders unless you can demonstrate excellent riding skills and balanced seat.
Maximum group size is 10.
(In 2019, maximum group size will be 8)
You will be surrounded by the caring and competent staff of the station and On The Verandah. We consider your safety and wellbeing paramount!
